Unleashing Your Thoughts: A Comprehensive Guide to Launching Your First Blog

BLOGGING: Your Guide to Starting a Blog

Hey there! I’m Marc Andre, and I transformed my financial life through blogging. I made my first million from it! Now, I’m on a mission to guide others like you who are keen to boost their revenue, save smart or ideally, do both.

I vividly recall when I first started blogging; I was clueless. Fast forward a decade, and I’ve made my livelihood from it. Blogging was a game changer for me. It allowed me to earn well, gave me the freedom to work on things I enjoy from the comfort of my home, and saved me from a tiresome commute to a job I didn’t particularly like.

Now, if you’re here, you’re either thinking about starting your own blog or already decided. I’m thrilled to share the process and tips with you. Let’s start with the basics.

Do You Need a Web Hosting for Your Blog?

Absolutely! Free platforms like Blogger and WordPress.com are just stepping stones. To stand out, you’ll need your own domain and hosting. It gives you more control, looks professional, and most importantly, increases the chances of monetizing your blog. The good news is, it’s not excessively costly. About $15 per year for a domain and a few bucks a month for hosting.

Getting Your Blog off the Ground

The first step could feel intimidating. Don’t worry, it’s simpler than you think. There are numerous hosting services available, but I’d recommend Bluehost for beginners. With competitive prices, excellent customer service, and reliable uptime, it’s a perfect fit for newbies.

Bluehost supports you round-the-clock via email and phone. Plus, it makes setting up your WordPress blog a breeze, as I’ll show you in a bit. Do watch the video below for more detailed information.

Here’s a quick way to get started with Bluehost. Click on their “WordPress hosting” to select from the available packages. The Basic plan works well unless you plan to host multiple sites. Once you choose, you’ll register or enter your domain, fill in the payment details, and you’re done.

Thereafter, you’ll create your account and choose your payment term (12, 24, or 36 months). The longer your term, the cheaper the monthly rate. For me, the 12-months option works great.

Once your payment’s done, you can set up your WordPress blog. Fill in your site’s name and tagline, select that you want a blog, and decide whether you want the blog posts on the homepage. You can change these details later, so don’t stress too much about it.

Afterward, share information about your blogging goals and your confidence level in creating websites. Then select your blog theme (or skip the step to get the default theme).

Congratulations! Your WordPress blog is up and running! You can manage and customize your blog from the WordPress dashboard. Don’t forget to click on “launch my site” to make your blog public. If you face any issues, revisit the video in this post or reach out to Bluehost.
